Today we had to let our dear friend, Dusty, go. When we moved to Washington, the cats went to live with my parents in South Dakota. Dusty had been getting progressively sicker over time. On the first visit, the vet noticed some weight loss and a small mass on her left rear side. When Dusty kept getting worse, my parents decided to take her back to the vet today.
The mass had gotten bigger, and she had lost three pounds in less than a month. It seemed to be kidney cancer, leaving us with only one humane decision: let her go.
Dusty's been with us since December 1999 when we adopted her from a rescue group in Maryland. She traveled a lot with us and had many exciting adventures. She treated ponytail holders as babies, and enjoyed sleeping with Wayne and I in bed at night.
Doo-doo Pie, you will be sorely missed. Rest in peace and know that we love you!
Oh, and please keep Pixel in line up there. She always DID think she was the boss (smiles).
And Mom and Dad, thank you for taking such good care of her! You'll never know how much we appreciate it!
