Happy-Sad Day

Wayne and Lades are all packed up and ready for Redmond. They left at 6:30 this morning and made it to Sioux Falls in one day. The kids and I were really sad to see him leave, but this is a tremendous opportunity for him, and for me when I finally get out there.

I really hope we won't be apart long (I've only commited to have the kids here through marching season which ends October 31), but something tells me things won't happen that quickly.

This experience has shown me once again how lucky I am to be married to my best friend. I missed him before he even left the house ...

Okay, would the smart alec out there who's sticking their finger in their mouth in a gagging motion kindly KNOCK IT OFF?!?

Drumroll, Please....

Remember that "top secret" trip of Wayne's I mentioned in my last post? Well Microsoft flew him to corporate headquarters in Redmond, Washington for several interviews. I'm excited to say that less than an hour after his interview, the Xbox group made him a job offer that's too good to refuse!

Since his start date is soon, the kids and I will stay behond. They'll finish their competitive marching season with the band and colorguard, and I'll finish documenting a major software release for TruGreen. We don't have all the details worked out yet, but wanted our friends and family to know the big news.

Of course the logo above belongs to Microsoft. Just want to stay out of trouble. But we're so excited about the future...

More later...

Samantha's First High School Formal

Homecoming 2008 is here! Houston High won its football game, the band did a killer performance, and Sam attended her first high school formal. I'll get her to blog about it tomorrow, but in the meantime, here are some pics.

It was good the dance was tonight since Wayne's out of town. It distracted us from missing him as much, at least a little. It's top secret where he's gone or why, but watch here for details to come.

Friday Night Band, I Mean Football

Enjoy a sneak peek at Friday Night Football Houston High style. CJ grins in the stands with his band buddies, and Sam poses in her "bleeding bumblebee" costume. They looked and sounded great, and the low seventies temperature was a welcomes relief.

I'd also like to take this opportunity to wish mom and dad a Happy 44th Anniversay!!!
