Sam Turns 14

Sam celebrated her 14th birthday with a Chee cake. I told the people SEVERAL TIMES that we wanted no chocolate on the cake, and what do they do? Create a cake COVERED with chocolate frosting! The boys got nauseous from the smell and Sam and I found the frosting a bit too chocolatey, but oh how moist it was! It was well-designed too, with the photo and color-coordinated pawprints.

It's been a rough couple weeks as we attempted to get our body clocks back on school time. We're all having trouble getting going in the morning, and now that I'm working, I find myself ready for bed at ridiculously early hours.

But things are getting more interesting on the work front for me. I'm auditing and revising a couple of process guides for the company's call center software and have enjoyed working with the developers, testers, etc. It's neat to see how real technical writing is done at the corporate level.

Things are insane as always on Wayne's job hunt. While the first semi-serious local prospects appeared this week, they really wanted less senior programmers. Our best hope continues to be out of state.

Back To School *By Sammy*

Hey, y'all!

Summer ended far too quickly (I'm sure all of us agree about that). A couple weeks ago, we did all our school supply and clothing shopping. Of course, during this, I couldn't help but pick up the outfit that I'd wanted to get for a girl dog since before we got Chee. Especially when I saw it was on clearance at Wal-Mart. That night, I dressed Lady Bandit up for a photoshoot in her sparkly pink tank crop top and low-rise denim miniskirt. Here's a couple of the best pictures of that!

So, last week on Monday, Chris and I headed back to school-- Chris as a sophomore, and me as a freshman. One of the few things we've agreed about so far is that IT SUCKS! Well, okay. It doesn't suck. Running back and forth from the Main building to the Annex building, however, does. *laughs* Band (and colorguard) are the main things keeping us sane throughout the day, I suspect.

<3 always,
Sammy
*Hugs and Kisses!*

Forgive the Grumpy Face...

Let me just say these pictures were taken very early in the morning when I was feeling grumpy. Why was I grumpy? The dogs kept us awake all night. Why was I dressed up so early? I joined the ranks of the WORKING WOMEN!

Today was my first day as a Technical Writer for ServiceMaster's TruGreen IT Implementation Team. Their corporate headquarters is here in Memphis. I'll be writing help files, manuals, and other corporate documents as part of a small team of writers. I was nervous about having such a structured schedule again, but the first day went well. The people are terrific, too.

Wayne's job search continues, but this way, if we do end up having to leave the area, I'll have proven myself as a well-paid technical writer. Yeah, the books help, but my most recent one was over seven years ago. It was high time for me to get current again.
